Question and Answers

Q:

Need manual for old typewriter please! Or help troubleshooting how to fix mine.

A:

Great picture of the two of you... An owner's manual may not be what you need for repairs. I will forward your question for further investigation. I did provide a link below that will bring up a full page of different typewriter issues that you can review. Also, keep in mind that an expert will respond to your request within two business days if not sooner. I hope you can gleam some information from this link. Have a nice week end.

The older typewriters are fun to use and people are walking into typewriter shops all over the country rediscovering these great old machines.

There are parts diagrams and a manual available for this model at Sears Parts Direct. You can click here to order; Manual 53511 . Part number 53511.

I was looking at a sister machine manual and it looks like it may be the margin settings. The typewriter beeps when a margin is set and when the automatic return is set. Try to cancel the Automatic carrier return function. Hold down the Code Key and press the "=" Key again. The "T" above "RETURN" on the LCD disappears.

If this does not reset use the following to clear memory. This function allows you to delete all files in the memory. The LCD must be cleared to activate this function, and it cannot be performed in the STORE mode.

  • Hold down the Code Key and press the "A" Key."CLEAR ALL FILES Y/N?"appears on the LCD.
  • Press the "Y" Key."ARE YOU SURE Y/N?" appears on the LCD,asking for confirmation.
  • All files are cleared when the "Y" Key is pressed again.
  • The function is canceled if the "N" Key is pressed after the first or second prompt.

Another possible problem is the battery. When power is turned on, Six beeps sound if the back-up battery has been completely drained. This would usually require service.

I would still recommend ordering the manual for your typewriter, but I hope the information above helps.

Please reply if I can be of further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
