Thank you for your question on the belt replacement on the sewing machine.

The model of the sewing machine you have looks like it is 158.19142.

The 33327 belt you are referring to it the motor to idler pulley drive belt. This belt is on the inside from the motor pulley to the large pulley on the center idler pulley.

You can loosen the pulley by turning the lock screw in the center of the double pulley to release the tension on the small idler pulley to the hand wheel pulley. If that does not give you enough slack then loosen but do not remove the two mounting screws for the idler bracket. It should have elongated slots to tighten or loosen the hand wheel belt.

Then remove the belt for the hand wheel off the small idler pulley and install the new 33327 belt on the large idler pulley and then onto the motor pulley.

Put hand wheel belt back onto the small idler pulley and then slide the idler to tighten the hand wheel belt.

If the motor is slack then loosen the large screw on the motor bracket and push and slide the motor bracket down until the motor belt is tight.

Please let me know how it went.

Q:

sewing machine 19142 parts 158.19142

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and for contacting us with your question about your Kenmore sewing machine model 158.19142. I am so sorry a lot of the parts are missing. Unfortunately, due to the age of this unit (over 30 years old), the majority of the parts are no longer made.

I have reviewed the parts list for this model and I am assuming by “wheels and cogs” you are referring to the pattern discs and pattern cams. Of these parts, only the #44 and 45 discs are still available. The instruction book and the power cord with foot control are also no longer available.

In this case I recommend conducting on online search for sewing machine parts suppliers and used parts sites. It is possible a sewing machine repair shop still has parts in stock for this machine or someone has a nonfunctional version of it and  is willing to sell the parts. I have included the link below for you to view some generic parts for sewing machines. You may be able to find a replacement power cord with foot control that will work with this unit.

I am so sorry that we are not able to get the parts you need. I hope these suggestions help. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.
