A:

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with your water heater. Upon researching model 153339460; the thermocouple for this model is sold as an assembly with the burner parts, all of the parts in the assembly are made to work together. Q:

How to change drain valve Kenmore Gas water heater

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly get you the instructions on how to change your drain valve on your water heater. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found instructions to assist you. Before repairing your water heater make sure it is not turned on.
To change the drain valve the water heater must be emptied. Drain the water heater completely.
1. Once unit is completely drained, remove the drain valve by unscrewing it counter clock-wise with pliers or small pipe wrench.
2. Get replacement valve. You will not know how long the drain valve is unit the old one is removed.
3. Apply teflon tape and pipe joint compound on the threads of the new valve before installing it into the place.
4. Screw the new drain valve into place, tighten, and make sure to position it to face the right direction.
5 Refill with water and test for leaks. Check back several days to ensure there are no slow leaks.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Thank you for your question. I know it's frustrating when the water heater stops working. If the pilot does not light first check to see if there is a spark. If it does not spark, check for a loose wire connection. If the wires seem ok, the problem could be with the electrode. If there is a spark then the gas flow will need to be checked. If there is no gas flow, the problem could be a plugged orifice, a defective gas valve or low gas pressure. Due to the dangerous conditions that can be associated with a gas water heater, I strongly recommend having a technician check and make this repair. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services.
