Thank you for your question. I know it's frustrating when the water heater stops working. If the pilot will not remain lit when the valve button is released, it indicates, that either the thermocouple or the valve has failed. It is possible it could also be a gas pressure problem but it�s not very likely. If you feel confident that you can safely make this type of repair, I recommend replacing the pilot assembly # 9003455 first. The thermocouple is not a separate part on this model. If the pilot still won't stay lit, the valve # F145-1279 will need to be replaced. These parts are available at SearsPartsDirect . I would recommend having a technician check and make this repair.
