Q:

Where is the heat link inside the combustion chamber on Power Miser 12? 153.331444

A:

I recommend that you have a service technician examine the water heater and repair this problem. You could have clogged air intake screens or a clogged flame arrester. You could also have a problem with the combustion and/or ventilation air supply.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with your water heater. You have received some very good information from Anna. A clean water heater and water heater environment are the first things that should be considered when troubleshooting a FVIR water heater for pilot outage. Government regulations for higher efficiency and new flammable vapor ignition resistance requirements have made todays water heaters more sensitive to the need for proper air flow around and through the appliance. A dirty environment can affect a water heaters performance. Take time to make sure that the area around, and under the heater is clean and obstruction free. Make sure that the air intake screen(s) (LDO screens) located on the base ring of the heater are clean and properly installed; this is where all of the combustion air enters the heater. The arrestor, which is the main vent, is located under the main burner (see image). To clean this vent the burner assembly will have to be removed. This vent can only be cleaned from the inside using air pressure to blow it out. I recommend having a technician make this check and repair. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you.
