I'm sorry you are having a problem with your water heater. Unfortunately, the problem you're having is not listed but from the information listed, I suspect the water is getting too hot. If this is the case, the information you have received is correct. If lowering the temperature setting on the thermostat seems to work ok, then you can leave it on the new setting. If it does not help the thermostats will need to be replaced. It's always a good idea to replace both at the same time. The top thermostat is # 9001954015 and the lower thermostat is # 9000507015. Both of these thermostats are available at SearsPartsDirect . I hope this will help you.
