A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Power Miser, Model: 153.320551. From reviewing the details on your model, it appears that, that specific element is the only one we have. It is stating that it is a 1 3/8th threaded element. From what im seeing there does not appear to be an adaptor for this model.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the odor in the water. There is an updated anode rod # 9001453 for this type of problem. Its available at http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/9001453/0042/153?pathTaken=directMatch&filterPart=&pop=flush&prst=0&shdPart=9001453&sid=MMLxexpertxmerch . This model is not showing the anode rod but if you look at the top of the tank, there should be a third knockout between and behind the hot and cold inlets. The anode rod will be located under the third knockout. If you replace it yourself, be sure to disconnect the power and shut off the water supply to the tank. Now, if this unit is in a tight location with a ceiling, the tank will probably need to be completely drained, so it can be leaned over, to have enough room to remove and replace the anode rod. I hope this will help you.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
