Q:

Where's the anode rod? 153310560 Kenmore Electric water heater

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your water heater water smells. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found the anode rod, but I do apologize the anode rod for this water heater is no longer available due to the age of the unit. After 5-10 years manufactures stop selling parts for certain units. I would recommend contacting a water heater specialist to see if they can locate an anode rod for your specific water heater. I do apologize.  The anode rod is located on the top of the water heater near the cold inlet nipple.

Is there a bolt or something to unscrew to remove the anode rod? There is nothing around the cold water inlet. Is the anode rod combined with the cold water inlet? I don't see a way to remove the anode rod from the exterior of the water heater. Can the smell be caused by something other than the anode rod, like a build-up of stuff on the bottom? Maybe the only way to know is to replace the water heater. I was referring to the diagram on your website that does not show an anode rod.

You have to unthread it from the top and it will come out. It will be located under the inlet nipple. You will need to take the inlet off and it should be underneath.
