Q:

Fan/Vent Won't Turn Off 72185032111 Kenmore Microwave

A:

One of the relay contacts in one of the fan relays is likely welded shut on the control board and the control board will need to be replaced.

Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VDC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing fuses, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician.

see response to novermber 2012 question on same subject your expert "Scott D , November 28, 2012 Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the noise and frost in the freezer. The information you have received is very good. Another possible problem will be loose foam behind the panel blocking the drain and causing the ice buildup that can eventually start hitting the fan blade. I'm attaching some pictures with instructions to make this check. It can be difficult removing the back panel in the freezer and I would recommend having a technician make this check and repair. To remove the back panel, everything in the freezer and the complete drawer will need to be removed. With everything out, the panel can be pulled out. Be sure to disconnect the power first. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will assist you further." i need the info scott sent to this customer.

I have the same freezer fan noise issue. I was hoping that Sears Service could shed some light on the issue. The represents a chat with Sears this afternoon. After the reply from sears (below) I'll suppose I'll defrost the freezer as required and replace the refrigerator when it evantually fails due to this. Welcome to Sears Home Services chat support. You are now connected to Wood, Morgan. 2:30 pm Wood, Morgan, Good Afternoon. How may I assist you? 2:33 pm Are you with me on this chat session? 2:34 pm I'm happy to be online for another minute, if you need my assistance. 2:34 pm You ,Kenmore Frig Model 795.71309.012. Ice forms near freezer fan requiring freezer to be manually defrosted on a 2 week basis. Temp indicator in frig is now set to 0 degrees F. as specified. Previously set to -6 degrees F I assume at factory. Frequency of manual defrost lessened after temp set to spec. Have read other directly similar issues with this model. Would it help to set temp higher than 0 degrees? Tech that serviced frig a year ago for this issue said that frig would be junk if compressor fails because of this. Your thoughts. 2:36 pm Wood, Morgan, I am sorry, I am unsure about the problem with your refrigerator. 2:36 pm Let me schedule a service appointment. Our technician will take care of the issue. 2:36 pm May I have your full name, phone number, e-mail address and your complete service address please? 2:39 pm You ,At what cost? 2:39 pm Wood, Morgan, Let me explain you the service charges, may I know your name and the zip code please? 2:41 pm You ,I was already told by a service tech approx 1 yr ago that this would need to be manually defrosted with a hair dryer. I see no need to pay a $150 service charge to be told the same thing. I thought I could gain some insight from Sears Factory Service. 2:42 pm ,I have read that you have had control board and insulation issue with this model. If you cannot answer my question please forward me to a manager. Thanks 2:43 pm Wood, Morgan, Some appliances do have an extended parts warranty. The details are outlined in your owner´┐Ż??s manual. If during the technician's assessment he determines the part required is one covered by an extended parts warranty, the estimate will reflect the part warranty 2:47 pm Do you have any further questions for me? 2:50 pm You ,Please forward me to a manager. 2:50 pm Wood, Morgan, I am sorry, even our manager will not be able to help you with this.
