Q:

Lathe Model # 14923870 14923870 Craftsman Sears lathe

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Craftsman Lathe model 14923870. I am so sorry the motor and pulley need to be replaced. Due to the age of this product, we do not have any specifications on the motor. I have included the link below for you to view some universal motors that we have available. You will need to look at your motor to compare things such as the horse power (HP), revolutions per minute (RPM) and shaft length.

The other option is to invest your money towards a new lathe. Because your lathe is an older model, multiple parts for it are no longer made, including the pulley. If you were to purchase a new motor, the pulley will not come with it. That means you would still need to find one that will work. I have included the link below for you view the current lathes available.

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

Tee Rest 14923870 Craftsman Sears lathe

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with finding the correct tool rest. I searched for the correct rest but did not have any luck. If the round rest will tighten up and not move, you should be able to use it without any problem. Just be sure it is tight before each use. I have had a tool rest slip down while it was in use. Let me tell you it will make you jump. Please let me know how the round rest works for you.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how you would want to know how old the lathe your purchased is. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found that the lathe is from 1987.

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.
