Q:

Gas Grill doesn't ignite

A:

 Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

I am going to provide you the way to check the burner igniters and if the battery is good and the assistant do not see the spark you will need to replace the spark module.

The bolts may need some WD40 placed on them to free up from the heat and rust.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Hi Bill, I purchased the spark ignitor and installed it. Unfortunately it didn't work. I still don't have the clicking sound in the main grill. The side burner clicks as it did before. I took off the control panel and pulled the wire from the electrode end. I cleaned the electrode end with some steel wool and plugged in the wire back in that goes to the ignitor. I'm stumped. any ideas? Soaked the burner screws with WD 40 but they are still frozen solid. Thanks for your assistance.

An electrode is a miniature spark plug but the electrode grounds where it attaches to the BBQ. Although there are thousands of grill models there are only a handful of different ways electrodes attach in the barbecue. The electrodes that use a collector box use the collector box to protect the electrode from dripping grease and marinades and give the electrode something to arc against. The electrode either has a small screw next to the porcelain housing or it is in a threaded sleeve with a nut on either side of the firebox or it will have a bracket. Either way it will be obvious once you get inside the barbecue. Simply plug the wire back into the module tightly and it should be fine. As an on-site service company repairing all barbecues and grills we often put different electrodes into barbecues and they always work fine.
