Q:

steering gear removal 13AX60RG744 Toro Tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

In order to remove the sector gear, you will need to remove the drag links. There will be two nuts and bolts securing the sector gear that will need to be removed. The steering pinion gear will be removed from the steering shaft by unsecuring the nut at the base.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. I will be happy to assist you with the tractor. The speed control rod is connected to the vari pulley. When you change the speed the vari pulley moves forward and back. If the rod is disconnected or the part between the belts on the vari pulley does not move up and down when you try to speed up the tractor the travel speed will not change. I posted an image below to show where the vari pulley is located. Click on the image to enlarge it. First be sure the rod is connected. Then move the speed faster and watch the center of the vari pulley. If it does not move up and down, I recommend removing the belts and move it by hand. If should move up and down.
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

the alternator only charges the battery once the engine is running. It has no part in starting the engine. Your battery may actually be bad so you may want to take it to an auto parts store and have it checked. If the battery checks good then there is going to be something else going on.

If you can get me the model number from the engine, I'll be able to tell more about what may be causing the problem. You can let me know that model number back on this thread.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!
