Question and Answers

Q:

a spring broke on top of the deck what is that one called? it runs and cuts grass but it's really noisy now

A:

I know how important it is to have all of the parts on your mower installed properly to keep it running strong. I am sorry for the inconvenience and I did manage to find a link in where you can enter the model number and a parts list diagram will pop up. Click here for the link. I hope this helps with your research while you wait for your expert response.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Without seeing the deck and the broken spring, I would not be able to say with any certainty which spring is broken. I added a link to Searspartsdirect where you can view the parts of the deck for model 13ac762f020. I hope this helpful.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Wanda; I recommend looking at the parts diagram of the deck and see if you can identify the spring which is disconnecting. You can the blue click in my last response to view the parts on the deck. I also do not understand what you mean when say "the blades keep disconnecting". Based on last reply, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose the problem and to repair your mower. If you need any further assistance, reply with additional details and I'll be happy to assist. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can call Sears at 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

Wanda: There are many parts related to making the blades rotate. I would not be able to say with any certainty what part or parts may have failed. Look on page 24 in the Owner's manual and look at figure 7-5. Is this the spring or cable that broke? I you have a neighbor that is mechanically inclined, I recommend having him/her take a look at your mower to see if they can tell what is broken, The spring and cable shown on page 24 is the one that must pull idler pulley in order to tighten the blade belt to make the blades turn.
