Question and Answers

Q:

How do I program a remote for 139.663920 garage door opener?

A:

Open the remote. If you see a set of dip switches thenthere is probably a set on the back of the motor head that you will have to match or set in a code on the dip switches and press the learn button on the motor head and then the remotes button. if no dip switches then ptess the colored learn button on the motor head and then press the button on the remote. The opener head either has dip switches OR a learn button. The only other option is if there is an external receiver attached to the back or plugged in and has wires running to the opener. If this is the case you will have to get remotes compatible with it. You can get an external receiver to plug inand run your own wires and remotes to match too. I actually kept looking online and read somewhere about the dip switches being near an antenna. I was going to take off the cover to the opener on the ceiling and realized the button panels on the wall that opens and closes the garage door(s) was the key because they had antennas on them. I unscrewed the control panel off of the wall and there was a dip switch panel inside the manual wall controller. I set the remote to match the same dip switch pattern. I then pressed 1 button at a time to find the working button and surprise the first button opens and closes the garage door. These garage door openers are from the early 80's they do not have smart buttons to program a remote with. I was trying to figure out where the dip switch box was to program my new remote and I answered my own question. If you have garage door openers this old the dip switch box is in the manual wall controls.

I have the same opener, two old remotes quit working at same time, it will work at the wall, where are the antennas mounted on wall unit? I think the wires became disconnected.
