Question and Answers

Q:

how to program with door motor 13953778 Craftsman 3-function transmitter

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. We, at Sears, value your service.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is parts needed for the garage door opener.

Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Craftsman Garage Door opener model number 139.663901.

The 53778 remote is an older one, so you have an older opener that uses movable dip switches to program. In this case, you could try moving all the switches back and forth a few times before resetting them to the desired code. Sometimes the switch contacts get corroded slightly and just moving them a few times will clear the contact points and return them to normal operation. The dip switches have to match each other exactly. Some have on/off switches and some have on/neutral/off switches. But they just have to match the code set in your remote..

Please "RESUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS IF THERE IS ANY OTHER PROBLEMS".

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs.  Thank you for choosing Sears and using our SearsPartsDirect.com.

Parts haven't been made for that opener for many years. Time for a new opener.

There really isn't any aftermarket parts producers for garage door openers. In almost every instance once a door opener part goes out of production in just a short time all of that part is sold off the shelves of retailers and that's it.

You can try to "google" the part numbers to see if you can come up with any that someone may have around for sale but it's really pretty unlikely as that's a pretty old model.

I'm afraid that Don is correct that it's time for a new opener.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

Q:

My garage opener has a discontinued part that i need to replace. I need the worm gear and helical gear that fits the 139.663901 model. Are these available?

A:

You can sometimes track down obsolete parts by googling the model number, or googling the part numbers if you have them. The expert may be able to tell you who the manufacturer is, which might open another avenue to research.
