Q:

Garage door remote control 139.654031 Craftsman Sears electronic garage door opener

A:

Thank you for your question. I see you have an older opener. There is no listed remote replacement for this model. The conversion kit that used to be available is not now.  If a conversion kit was available, the cost would be over half the cost of a new opener. If you would like to check newer models, you can view at Sears. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Try placing the number 1 switch in the off position and then programming the rest of the switches like the switches on the receiver.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with programming your remote to the garage door opener. We are here to help. You need to read the instructions on the remote. Usually the first switch you had to put a certain position. Next, you match the switch positions on the remote with the wall control. If that does not work, I recommend you purchase a new garage door opener. The parts are not available on what you currently have. The new openers have feature that was not around when yours was made. I provided you a link for that.

Q:

My Sears garage door opener remote says "Sears Digital Control." No other brands or names. It's at least 20 yrs old. What universal remote will work?

A:

Hi there stuck outside, Yes, we have all been in your shoes. You indicated you still had the box, did a manual come with it? If not I attached the link for the opener you have. It has codes you will need as well as instructions. I also found a site with simple instruction that hopefully will help.

This should have either a learn button on it or a set of dip switches to go by either on the motor head, the remote or there will be a box that has two wires to the terminals. If this does not narrow it down I would recommend a chamberlain clicker brand for a universal remote. If this does not help I would consider an external receiver with a remote. Sears stores have these. They plug in to an outlet and you run a bell wire to the motor head and this defeats the internal receiver, although the old remote will still work or you can also get two new ones too. This is a really simple task and should take only 15-30 minutes to accomplish. You can also order parts online at searspartsdirect.com. Thanks BB
