Thank you for your question.  I can tell you have exhausted the procedures for this remote.  I suspect the remote is no longer functioning.  I recommend the information provided for this model and issue in this post . It is the same model.  Even with a conversion kit and new remote, the problem may be in the opener itself.  I would recommend a new opener. New openers can be viewed at Sears. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

There are no dip switches, learn bottons, or anything within these units. I have already explored this initially. I've exhausted all I know. Seems like there should be some way to set the dip switches on the 53778 to correspond with the garage unit . Any other ideas?

You said in your original post that you had added a conversion kit. Does it look anything like the one below?

This is what my transmitter 139.53755 looks like. And, this the remote 139.53779. I suspect these are much older than the pic you posted. I bought these items back in the mid 90's to replace my original remote.

I can understand how frustrating it is to have your garage door opener stop working properly. However, the remote for this unit is no longer available, so you would need a converter kit in order for the remotes to connect. The one that you purchased however, is not compatible for this type of unit. It only works with the older units with the SRT buttons. You need one to work with the dip switches. This is where you could have another issue, because the dip switches in the remotes are not supposed to be changed. Only the ones on the opener should be. There is no listing for what the switches should be set off. If you have moved these, it would save time to just purchase a new unit. I would suggest you go to your local Sears store, and get a dip switch universal remote. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

That is the remote I purchased from Sears. model#53778 with dip switches. Are you telling me that this remote will not work with my current opener with the conversion kit model #53755? And, there are no remotes available for my particular unit?

Thank you for your question on this very old garage door opener.

There are no parts available for this opener.

The original remote is no longer available it subs to the 53778 remote. All the information I find say's it should work with this old opener.

Your unit should have some dip switches on both the remotes and the motor unit control board. As long as this dip switches are set alike it should work if the control board is good.

These units were product between 1979 and 1983.

The link below has the remote listed.

53778 remote control .

Because of the age of the unit I would suggest replacing the opener with a new model that will include all the safety and security features that are now required for garage door openers. Here is just one example of a new door opener you might want to look at.

Craftsman garage door opener .

I hope this will help.
