Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with the protection system on the garage door opener. We are here to help. I suspect the door is not opened all the way. If the door is not opened all the way, the light will not turn on. The reason is, the door did not complete its up travel. The safety sensors do not have any effect on up travel. The opener needs to complete its up travel, so it is ready to close the door. The light should come on when the safety sensor beam is broken, with the door fully open. Also, this is not a programming problem. However, if the door is at the end of its travel and the problem still exists, then I suspect a problem with the logic board. I hope this helps.

I just had this opener installed and my door is opening at random times or sometimes when we go to open it it only goes up halfway. The guy came back to put it on a new frequency and to adjust the tension to no avail. I am worried about security

I had the same problem that it would open or close randomly. I found (after months of troubleshooting and using my electronics training) that the wall unit that you mount next to the people door was defective, it would hang up (stick and not spring back) if not pressed straight on. The green light would not be on and that is when the door would open or close randomly. I purchased a new wall unit and it had the same problem. This is a mechanical design error with the product. As long as i made sure that the green light was on I never had a problem. I was going to modify the switch but never seemed to have time. One day I forgot to verify the green light was on and my door opened while i was away. My neighbor closed the door for me. I just installed a new garage open from Chamberlain that I can monitor from my phone.

Why won't my remote open garage door?

Garage door openers are a great convenience. They are also added security. It can be a hassle when the remotes stop working. I was able to find some information for you. I am adding the links below to help you with your question while you wait for your expert response. I hope this will help you out.

First, check if both safety sensor LED lights are a steady green. If one is not, then align them to one another until the green light shows steady. If the sensors are fine then change the battery in the remotes and re-sync it to the opener. If the opener still does not work after that then, let's try this:

  • Hold down the "learn" or "SRT" button on the back panel of the main unit until the LED goes out (about 6 seconds). That will clear all the codes from the opener memory.

Now program in the remotes by doing this:

  • Press and release the "learn" or "SRT" button (the LED will blink) and within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the remote until the lights on the opener blink.

Now the remote should be programmed in and you can try it. If it does not work, there is most likely a problem with the logic board of the motor unit and it will need to be replaced. I hope this helps. Thank you for using Manage My Life!

I am having a similar problem with a similar model (139.53930DM). I've tried to reprogram according to the manual by holding down the learn button. I saw this reply and noticed that one of the sensors is not green it's orange, but I can't move it to make it green. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Lara, some have both green and some have a green and a amber or orange colored led light but as long as you have a led lit on both the sensors are ok. the sensor circuit only works when closing the door not opening the door. so you have another issue. if the battery is ok in the remote have you changed any light bulbs in the opener, the newer style light bulbs will cause interference with the RF signal from the remote. also try the remote close to the opener unit to see if it is a signal range issue. you can look on the logic board that's the board on the back of the opener with the wire hanging down some models it is on the side of the opener but will have the small wire hanging down from it. that logic board has a small led light right above the learn button it is a diagnostic light and when you press the remote button to open or close the door it should flash quickly and will tell you if the remote is sending a signal out if there is no flashing the remote battery or the remote is bad and not sending any signal. check those couple of things and post back for further info depending what you find out. also you may want to erase all codes from the opener by holding the learn button in for about 10 seconds this will erase all codes from the opener and then reprogram the remote by waiting for the light above the learn button to shut off and just press and release the learn button quickly then press and hold the remote button until the main lights on the opener flashes then try the remote.

Thanks for your reply TC. I've replaced the battery even though both remotes don't work. I've tried reprogramming by hitting the learn button, but no lights go on and no noises are heard. I've also tried as you suggested and hit the remote close to the motor unit, but nothing happens and there are no blinking lights indicating a signal. Of course the unit is just over a year old, so it is no longer under warrantee. It just stopped working. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. Thank you!

Regarding the 3 function remote. I can program the remote opener with the large push button but openers will not accept a sync to the two smaller buttons from other garage door bay units.
