Question and Answers

Q:

Craftsman Garage 139.53974SRT Remote Openers won't work

A:

Programming remotes for the garage door can be difficult. If the remotes are compatible, it should work. While you wait for the expert response, you may want to check a previous expert post that has a common problem that can affect the programming. I attached below. Hope this helps.

It sounds like the receiver has quit working. It is part of the logic board.

I have a feeling the logic board has failed.

Press and hold the learn button until the LED goes out, it should take about 6 seconds. If the LED never comes on or does but then does not go out after about 30 seconds, the board has failed and will need to be replaced.

If it does come on and then go out, then the codes should be cleared and you can try to program in one of the remotes. If the unit will not program in a remote the board is likely to have failed. If it does program a remote, try to program in a 2nd remote and see if it takes.

If you find that the board has failed you can order part number 41A5021-4H from HERE .

The model number we need is on the face plate where the light bulb is. The number will look like this 139.53974. If you have 1 or 2 lights on the front of the opener the model number will be on a sticker just under the lights the on the face plate on the front of the power head. If you have 2 lights, one on each side the the model number will be under the light on the left side as you are facing the garage door. Then if you go to the Manual Tab and enter that number you will be able to get the manual for your opener.

I hope this helps.

If I can be of further assistance please feel free to submit any questions you have along with the specifics.
