Thank you for contacting ManageMyLife regarding your garage door opener. I know how frustrating it is when a product isn’t working correctly.

The 5 blinks indicates safety sensors out of alignment or the opener is stuck. Since this happened due to a storm, unplug the opener 5 minutes. That will reset the computer. Next, plug it back in, then push the wall control button. If there is no change, pull the emergency release, then push the wall control button. Also, is the door open or closed? If the door is open, make sure the trolley is not against the stop bolt. The trolley against the stop bolt indicates, the up travel need to be reduced so the door will reverse and close. The trolley working without the door indicates, the door spring is out of adjustment. You can test for that by, opening the door manually waist high. If the door slowly move downward the door spring needs to be adjusted. This will cause the 5 blinks. The door should stay at any height when the door is opened manually. Also, if everything checks OK, most likely the storm damaged the logic board.

The logic board is (part number 41A5389-1E) , but you may want to have a professional confirm that, as the replacement cost can be high. The logic board can be purchased from Sears PartsDirect. The logic board is around $100, which is about half the price of new garage door opener. You may consider just replacing the unit. I provided a link to the models of garage door openers that Sears.com offers.

Q:

Garage door opener just clicks when trying to open/close it

A:

We will need a little more info to answer this question.

Does it not open or close or both?

Does the light bulb flash on and off when you press the remote?

Does the motor run when you press the button and the chain move but not the door?

Does the motor run when you press the button and the chain stand still?

Can you press and hold the wall station to make the door work but not from the remotes or keypad?

The light on the keypad, is it solid or blinking?

The sensors, do they both have led lights, and are they on, what colors are they?

Please test these theories out and resubmit for a accurate answer. Thanks BB
