Q:

Program a keyless entry pad

A:

I know how important it is to have a good working garage door opener so that you can have access to your garage any time of the day. I did some research for you at Managemylife.com and found an excellent article that also has multiple expert answers at the bottom of the web page that addresses the most common questions that have been asked by other members. I hope this will help until your expert can answer your specific question. I attached the link below.

Start by clearing all the codes on the opener. Press and hold the "learn" button until the LED next to it goes out.

Now remove the batteries from the outside keypad device.

Now program a remote. Press and release the "learn" button and then within 30 seconds press and hold the remote button. Continue to hold the remote button until the lights on the opener blink. Now program in your car remote. Now program in the 2nd remote for the opener.

Now check all 3 to make sure they work. If all 3 do not work go back and clear the codes again and program in the same remote first and then the car. Make sure they both work. If they set the 2nd remote aside and put the batteries back in the keypad and program it in. Now test those 3 and see if they work. If they do, take the remote you set aside and program it in. If you now have problems again then that last remote programmed has failed and you need to throw it out and get a new one.

I suspect one of the remotes has failed and is causing the problem here.

If you start and get the first remote, the car, the 2nd remote, and they all 3 work then go ahead and program in the keypad. If the problem comes up after the keypad then it has failed.

There really isn't a sequence to do this other than trying to determine which device has failed. In a very large majority of these situations it's a remote that causes the problem.

I appreciate your advice. However, all the remotes and the home link worked before I installed this new key pad and programmed it. Why is one of the remotes all of a sudden not working?

A:

Richard, It is weird that only one remote quit working. If you could please reply below with the model number and the total number of remotes you are trying to program. I know most units have enough memory for a total of 8 remotes. If you try to program more than that It will kick one out. Once I have your information I can investigate this further.

I hope to hear from you.

Mark.

Mark......Model number on Owner's Manual is 139.53962SRT1 - 139.53966SRT1 - 139.53975SRT1 - 139.53959SRT. I cannot read the number on the unit itself, but these numbers are on the cover of the Owner's Manual.

Since this occurrence, I have taken the keyless pad back to the Sears store and they said I was shipped the incorrect model for Craftsman Opener 41A5021-2F which is installed in the garage. They sold me Keyless Pad model 139.3050 and said that will word. I have been trying to program it and the Home LInk transmitter and one Craftsman remote. I get the keyless pad programmed and the home link won't work. I have not been able to program the regular Craftsman receiver at all. I have again programmed the keyless pad so we have some way to get into the garage. I cannot program the home link because the regular receiver won't program and you have to hold a programmed receiver to the home link to program it. I'm about ready to have a totally new opener installed. Please help......

Q:

how to change an existing pin # for a security keyless entry for the garage door opener?

A:

Since you already have an exiting pin number for your Craftsman garage door opener and do not remember it, more than likely you will have to erase all codes and start over. An expert will be with you with additional information on your specific questions. Thanks for your patience.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your keyless entry. There is a way to reset and reprogram the keyless entry. First remove the battery, and then let is sit for about one hour. Then reinstall the battery and reprogram the keypad. This will erase the code for it on the opener, so you can start over. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
