I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the garage door opener.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Craftsman Garage Door model number 139.53680.

To program the remotes , take a ladder and climb up safely to the opener.   Remove the light and you should see a "square button", either red or purple.  You will or should see a light come on.    Maybe have to hold button in a few seconds.

With in a minute or so you need to press the button on the remote you wish to use.  The light on the garage door opener will or should come on when it is ready.

Using a conversion remote:
1.  Start with the garagae door closed.
2.  Go up the ladder and under the light lens, find the smart button, (the square shaped button).
3.  Look for the program button on the back side of the remote.
4.  Use the visor clip to press in on the button of the back until the front led light come on at the front.
5.  Press the smart button on the garage door opener, (the square button).
6.  With in 30 seconds press the button that will be used for the opener.
7.   Exit the programming of the remote by pressing any  button other than the one you have used for program.
8.  Test it out by pressing the programmed button and see if the door will raise.

I hope this answers your questions but if you need further assistance please resubit another question with additional details.
