I checked the models of opener, keyless entry and remote and they are all 53000 series, however the new keypad is a universal function and the garage door opener is a rolling code security plus model. It may work with some models, but I do not think it will stay programmed as the rolling code model changes the number every time the remote is used. I do see the replacement keyless remote #53684 is available here; Sears Parts Direct .

I recommend returning the universal and ordering the one with the rolling plus technology. The programming for the garage door opener is in the image below. This should resolve the issues, but if any further help is needed, please reply back. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

The problem you're describing makes me thing one of the items has failed. Most likely a remote. Start by clearing the codes. To do that: Press and hold the "learn" button until the LED goes out. Now nothing but the wall control will work.

Now program in just the remotes. Press and release the "learn" button and then press/hold the remote button until the lights blink. Now do this for the 2nd remote. See if they both work. If they do not, program in the wireless keypad and see if one of the remote and the keypad will work. If not, label the remotes as 1 and 2. Try to program one remote and the keypad. If it doesn't work with 1, try it with 2. Whichever remote programs with the keypad is fine and the other remote has failed.

It's a long and rather complicated explanation as to what the failure is, but it has to do with coding and radio languages and the way the remotes can change language and how the opener can understand both languages but not both at the same. Bottom line: Failed remote.

I'll also add (and I swear I'm not trying to confuse you) that if the remotes will work together until the keypad is programmed, then the keypad is the failed item. But that rarely happens; it's almost always a remote.

Let me know how this goes.
