Question and Answers

Q:

Can't program remote to open the garage door, but the neighbors remote does model #13953628SRT

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Craftsman garage door opener. I am so sorry you are having issues with the remote controls. I understand your concern about your neighbor’s remote opening your door and know you want to get this issue resolved quickly.  I will be happy to help you with this. I have included the link below for you to view the owner’s manual online in case you don’t have a copy.

I recommend you start by erasing all the codes. (See page 33.) This should remove your neighbor’s remote from the programming for your opener. Next you will need to reprogram your remotes and any other accessories linked to the opener. Your question did not include the part number of the new remote you purchased. Please resubmit your question with the remote number and the opener number so that we can verify they are compatible.

In the interim, I have included the link below for our manufacturer’s guides on programming remotes. This may be helpful in determining if you may have missed a step.

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

Sensors for Garage Door Opener 13953628SRT Craftsman Garage door opener

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Craftsman garage door opener model 13953628SRT. I am so sorry you are having difficulty installing the door opener with the safety sensors in place. The logic board on your opener will not operate without the safety sensors installed. We do not give advice on how to bypass a safety feature. It is mandated by law that the safety sensors be installed as intended by the manufacturer. I have included the link below for you to review the ruling.

Here at SearsPartsDirect.com we love to help you with your projects but in this case, it is not safe to circumvent the function of the safety sensors. I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

3 fundtion remote won't work 13953674SRT Craftsman Garage door opener

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your garage door opener and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 139.53628SRT and ten flashes of the light tells you there is a problem with the door safety sensor circuit. Look at the led's on both door sensors.

If one or both leds is blinking, the sensors are misaligned.

If one of the leds is not on, the door sensors need to be replaced.

If the led's on both sensors are off the problem is in the logic board or the sensor wiring. You need to look closely at the wiring to the sensors to see if it is broken or pinched by a staple. You can test the wires with an ohm meter for continuity or two wires shorted together.

If the wires seem OK, remove the sensor wires removed from the terminals on the logic board and check for voltage across terminals 2 and 3 on the logic board. You should have 4-5 volts dc. If you don't have 4-5 volts between terminals 2 and 3 and the opener is plugged in, the logic board is bad.

If you have 4-5 volts at terminals 2 and 3, and the wiring is OK, replace the door sensors. Here is a link that may help with additional troubleshooting. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.
