When replacing the drive gear the worm gear must also be replaced. They come in a kit. I have included the link below for you to view and order the kit. The kit will come with step-by-step instructions.

Check to see if the trolley is jammed against the stop bolt just in front of the motor unit. If it is do this. Loosen the chain enough to remove the tension on the trolley. Now run the motor until the door closes. While the door is closed, locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

Give Don's suggestion a try and see if that will take care of the situation. If that does nothing to alleviate the situation then it may be that a relay is stuck on the logic board. If that turns out to be the case there isn't much that can be done other than to replace the board. In that case, it may be more economical to just replace the opener.

Thanks for the excellent advice. My trolley was jammed, the motor hummed and stopped, so I backed off the chain locknut, cranked back on the up travel, tightened the locknut back and fine tuned the travel. Perfect!
