Trying to locate users manual so I can find out how to adjust rip fence to parallel. 137218071 Craftsman Table saw

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
I wasn't able to find the specific model of 137.218071 available digitally for download, but I was able to locate a similar model of 137.218070 that is available to view and download. This related model identifies the RIP fence on pages 21 & 28. Hopefully this helps.

Q:

Lift gear binds 137218070 Craftsman Table saw/stand

A:

You may be able to blow the sawdust out of the worm gear. It will stir up any dust and debris in your shop.

You may need to loosen the sawdust using a pointed wood skewer or a fine bristled brush.

If you can't get the dust out using those tactics, then you may need to pull it apart.

I have found a few links that might help you, the first link is a similar question that was asked and it was answered by an expert. Which it should give you some ideas on what to do. The other link is the Owner's Manual which is specific on your saw.

You can get a dado insert, I called and they told me that they do not have a dado insert made for this model but it is a special order, but it will cost an arm and a leg. I finally measured the opening and made one for normal use myself. I used 1/8" thick steel with two 1/4" thick pieces of steel welded on the under side over the tapped holes. The weight holds it in place during use so no screws are needed. I make a prototype out of 2" wood and then have the steel cut to size, grinding rough edges as needed. A shear does nice work on the straight edges. I ground the notches in the 2 corners and put a radius on the other two that keeps the steel in place. The fit is really close and no moment at all during cutting. I have been using this for over a year and have never had any problems with the insert. The 3/8" total height works. The total material cost around $20.00 and the time to get it into shape was about a month, with cutting the wood and all. I have the wood cut for the dado insert now and all I have to do is get the steel cut.
