Q:

Laser replacement 137212360 Craftsman Miter saw

A:

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with yourmiter saw. Upon researching model 137.212360; the laser battery compartment will have a cover that slides right off without having to remove any screws to replace the battery. I have posted a link below o fthe laser assembly with the cover off.

I trust that this information will help you, thank you have a great day.

Thanks, I was not referring to the battery compartment, I was talking about the screws that hold the actual laser in place on the front side above the "fence". However, not long after posting. I was able to remove what I thought was a SEALED COVER located and removed the screws and replaced the entire laser/battery compartment assembly.

Q:

Excessive blade runout 137212030 Craftsman Compound miter saw

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Sorry to hear of the blade wobble issue you are experiencing with the miter saw, I know how frustrating that is to have to work with.
There are three main things that cause blade wobble: the blade itself, blade not being tight or the washers, and bad arbor bearings.
The first two are pretty easy to rule out, and if you have, then the bearings would be the most logical choice. Based upon bearings X3PW, those are not model specific to your unit. They would go to models 137212360 or 137212410. For your model of 137212030, the arbor bearings are part of the arbor shaft assembly, and the part number is 0QM6. The bearings between the models would be different, and to ensure you get the correct one, you would need to order the model specific assembly.
For convenience, I have linked the assembly below. Just click the blue link to be directed to SearsParts to order when needed.

Q:

Handle for Craftsman Miter Saw

A:

Mine has exactly the same problem - broken handle. Sears service was completely useless. They wanted $90 just to check the problem. They couldn't see the obvious which I could see for free - a broken handle. And then on a top of it they would charge me for a part (if they can find one) and a labour. On a sears website they don't even recognize this model. So far my sears mitre saw is aging gracefully collectingt dust with a broken handle. It is irrepearable. Totaly useless. I will donate it to Goodwill, maybe they know how to fix it for their benefit. Jack.

Try model number 137.212360 at Partsdirect.com to see if it looks pretty close to what you have. With your machine being a Canadian model, it's extremely difficult for us to find parts for them and even harder to try and match it up with a U.S. model. They just don't put cross reference material like that out there (for some reason).

Have you tried to contact Sears Canada about this? If not, you may keep that in mind as I have sent customers to them for parts assistance before and they were able to get them back up and running with the right parts.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

Thanks for your reply, Wade_B. The model you suggested as a cross reference with my saw quickly produces a schematic at Partsdirect.com. The illustrations show a very different handle than my unit. I'm a bit surprised and disappointed you didn't catch this, as several photos with different angles were provided in my original request for help. I was predicting that you or another expert would take the time to line this up. Of course I have tried Sears Canada, and this model is no longer in the system as it's been discontinued. This pursuit has been frustrating. Hopefully this post will help others. It turns out that the saw is made by Rexon and branded Craftsman. Jack (and future frustrated DIYers), try finding parts via Rexon. Their parts department is "Power Tool Specialists". Phone 803-980-7740. They will refer you to Sears until you explain that this model is discontinued and Sears will not provide parts. My part # was 2D9C for the lower portion of the handle on model 137.284130. The total cost including shipping was very reasonable. Good luck to you. Please note that ManageMyLife.com did not provide useful information in this example. Dean

I can only go by the drawings in most cases, as was the case with this. The drawing is not always going to show parts exactly as they are. It's a guess and a gamble when trying to match up stuff to the Canadian items. I figured Sears Canada would have been more help being as the product came from them.

I'm glad Rexon was able to get this cleared up for you and get you what you need.
