A:

Thank you for your question to SearsPartsDirect.com and for being a valued member.

I apologize for the all miscommunication on finding the thumb screws for your  Craftsman  Gas Snow thrower  536881800 with the Briggs & Stratton engine (engine model number  12E114-0268-E1).

I researched the information on your model Snow thrower as well as the engine. Looking at the diagrams I found the park number you needed.

Q:

8hp.Engine fails to countinue running 536881800 Craftsman Snowthrower, gas

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Even though you state you cleaned the carburetor, this is a carburetor issue. It sounds like the main jet is partially clogged, or the air passageways have an internal clog. This is evidenced by it stalling once choke is taken off full. How varnished was it when you opened it up? If it was excessively varnished and you didn't get ALL the varnish the first time, it will just reclog when you reassemble it. Carbs can be tricky to clean right, and you have to be very methodical to get it clean the first time. There are passageways in the carb that can get clogged that aren't visible.
For engine parts such as the rebuild kit or the replacement carb, you need to input the engine model number into Sears Parts. The engine model for this snow thrower is 12E114-0268-E1. Based upon that engine model, the carb rebuild kit is part number 695157, and the replacement carburetor is 798917.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

I got it running like new by installing a new seat under the needle. It seems as the Ethanol in our gas causes the seat to swell raising the float level, shutting off the flow of gas. I hope that this helps someone else. Thank You, Mike :o]

Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. The air gap between the coil and the magnet on the flywheel should be set at .011. This is the standard setting for all engines.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the engine.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
