Q:

craftsman rider model #917271030 no spark at spark plug 917271030

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. When the key is turned to the on position, you should have 12 volts on the red and black wires of the spark advance module. If you have, the 12 volts disconnect the white wire and check for spark. If you do not have spark double check the air gap between the flywheel magnet and the coil. If all of the above checks are ok, I suspect the spark advance module is defective. The new spark advance module will tack the place of the spark advance module and the coil. The part number is 12-707-01-S. The manufacturer changed the design of the SAM unit and coil. Now the two are one. I posted an image below that has the instructions for replacing the coil.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Washer was smoking MAV3757AWW Maytag Maytag laundry

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your washer. Upon researching model MAV3757AWW; the belt would have a rubber burning smell and the motor would have an electrical burning smell. It’s odd that the unit is running normal after unplugging it. It could be a pulley seized up and the belt started burning. Then the pulley unseized with the momentum of starting the unit back up. It will be best to look for worn out or damaged parts. Usually you can look for burn marks on the electrical parts and melted spots on the belt or pulleys.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

No spin, drain or agitate. PAV2300AWW Maytag Washer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the washer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Maytag Washer model number PAV2300AWW.

Overheating smell and tub not agitating sounds like a belt about ready to brake.

Water not draining could be part of the belt or could be needing to check the drain hose for any blockage or by chance it kinked up.

Washer shutting off and not spinning too could be a problem dealt with the lid switch.

If you have really, really liked the machine then may want to get a service man to come in and look at it.   The lid switch is around $39.00, the belt is close to $24.00.   If you can test it out your self would be great.    Most service people would charge around $125.00 to do the repairs.

If it is a matching washer/dryer set then may want to fix it.   If not, to be honest if it was mine.   I'd get a new washer.   Still too many possibilities.

Please "RESUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS IF THERE IS ANY OTHER PROBLEMS".

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs.  Thank you for choosing Sears and using our SearsPartsDirect.com.

I attached the link for your model. The schematics can help identify the part needed and there are contacts to get help as well. I hope this helps while you wait for the expert.

Thank you for your question on the extension wand in place.

There are two springs and one pin that are captured in the knob cap of the wand.

The only thing I can think of is one of the springs popped out of place and is no longer holding the pin in the center lock position.

The sliding knob that captures the two springs may have internal broken and is no longer holding the spring in place.

The only way it can escape is if someone took it apart.

You will have to remove the two retainer clips on the side of the wand and the remove the plastic retainers to get that part open.

Yes you can order this part as well as the wands.

I think I would order the sliding knob the two springs and the pin.

My extension wand has failed as well. The plastic piece that holds it all together has broken and the pin and spring have come out. It seems like a very poor design and my only recourse is to purchase a new wand at $125.00. That will be the same kind of extension wand, which will likely break again. Extremely disappointed in the quality of this model Kenmore. I have been happy with Kenmore canisters in the past but this one just seems flimsily made.

Q:

walk behind lawnmower 917376470 does not start by electric starter. 917376470

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there are problems with the lawn mower.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Craftsman model number 917.376470.

I am sorry for your bad luck in the lawnmower not starting.   Does it start with the pull cord?

Is it turning over at all?

The first things to look at for the lawnmowers to start is what gives the the electrical power to start.   That is the Armature/magneto and the spark plug.   After that you check the charger and the starter itself which you have done already.

Here is how to check for the armature:

1.  Pull the spark plug cap with wire off the the spark plug.

2.  Unscrew the spark plug with your ratchet.

3.  Pusth the 5/16 inch bolt into the spark plug cap.

4.  Take the rubber part of the spark plug and hold it so the 5/16 inch bold is around 2 millimetes away from the steel block of the engine.

5.  Pull the rope of the engine.

6.  Watch the gap between the bolt head in the spark plug gap and the engine block.  Should be a blue spark every rotation of the flywheel if the armature/magneto is working.

Spark plug gap on your champion RJ19HX spark plug is .030".

I hope this answers your questions but if you need further assistance please resubit another question with additional details.

Sorry I didn't mention it, but the mower starts okay with the pull(manual) start. It's the electric (key) start function that I can't get to work. The battery seems to have enough juice and is getting from the key to the starter motor. I see two leads going toward the carbarator area & I can't figure out what they do. Is there a way that I could get the wiring diagram for this unit. Thanks

Hello Joey S. Thank you for your help. I was able to open the washer and see where the leak was. It was the hose coming from the pump. It appeared that the wrong hose was on the washer. Who ever serviced it (We bought it used) cut some corners and installed a hose that was a lot longer than the factory. It kinked and leaked. I ordered the correct hose that was 1/2 as long, installed it and all is well. Thank you for your help. With out your expertise I would have paid over $125.00 for a service tech to diagnose and fix the issue. With your help I fixed it for $30.00! :-)

Hello, I am wondering why I would have to pay for a service call when the parts should be covered? I have had this problem with the washing machine for over a month, but I am in college full time and havent had time to call until now. I am broke, but I also need this issue taken care of.. Any suggestions? Thanks Vicki

My first guess would be failing bearings. Maytag machines are now manufactured by Whirlpool. The days of the lonely Maytag repair man have lon gone. Unfortunately should the machine be out of warranty, and it appears that is the case, there is nothing Whirlpool are required to do, and likely they will not. As I am senior living on a fixed income I have some appreciation of your situation, but with the current economic climate should somehing still be within its warranty period start complaining ASAP. Just read, very, very carefully what the warranty documentation says, you are unlikely to recieve anything more. Sorry but that is the way it is.

Hi Vicki,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I am sorry you are having problems with your washer.

I looked at your previous question and I agree with Joey. This is most likely an issue with the bearings. And, as Joey stated, we cannot look at specific information for your washer without the model number. The model number should be located inside the loading door or on the back panel.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Hi, Vicki: I wanted to offer you a word of encouragement, and empathy as well. I have the very same model -- MHWE200XW00 type 832A, and have owned it for 13 months. First, I will share a little about what's going with my washer, and then a little about what I plan to do, as a little encouragement. My washer is currently out of commission, and the appliance tech says it will require a $260 wire harness. At this rate, given what I have read about your situation, and others like it with the Maytag 2000 series, I will call the Maytag 800 number, and I'll see if we can work things out. I will suggest to them that I think it would be best for Maytag to provide the wire harness for free, or I will simply sell the machine as is for its parts, and buy a washer of another brand. I am inclined to think that it would be better to dump the machine, and get a few dollars for its parts, than invest any further in this piece of junk, unless Maytag can fix this for free. LIkewise, if I were you, I'd fight for my rights. We should be able to expect these machines to work at least for a few years. Sure, these are "not your parents' Maytags," as a sales rep confessed openly to me, but this is unacceptable for the Maytags to break this early.

Hey Everyone, I too have had various problems with this model(MHWE200XW00) with very poor service and response to address the issues. Before the one year warranty my belt wore out and had to be replaced witch took over a month for them to do so. Then the pump got clogged due to the belt pieces getting stuck in the pump. Though the issues were related the warranty did not cover the pump and I came out of pocket $100.00. Then exactly one year after that the belt shredded again and they would not cover the service only the part and I was told I had to pay service fees of about $125.00. I agree with Dan on this problem of poor product and services. I have taken pictures of my machine and plan to make it known on the internet for those looking to buy a new washer that Maytag and Whirlpool brands are garbage and they should consider another. I plan to buy a new machine and sell my Maytag as is. This is how we fight back.

Yreva - Whilst I sympathize with your situation and experience with the Whirlpool Corporation I fail to see how the failure of the drive belt could clog the water pump. The drive belt is outside the waterways, the pump is inside the waterways. Could you please explain further?
