Thank you for your question on the vacuum cleaner motor replacement.

This is the model number for the power mate.

If you want to change the motor in the power mate for the floor you will need to pop off the light lens to get to the screws that secure the cover to the top of the power mate. Then with both hands and fingers pry out on the back side edges of the cover to unlatch the cover from the base.

If you are trying to replace the motor in the canister then you will need to remove the step knob to get to the back two screws. Please reply with the model number of the canister and I will be happy to help you.

Thank you.

Sam A.

Kenmore 4.5 Canister with Power Mate. Power Mate does not turn on. I read the manual and followed troubleshooting guide. Headlight does not come on. Rollers, brushes, and beater bar do not turn on. Performance indicator light does not come on. I hit the reset button per troubleshooting guide twice. I see a flash or spark under the reset button and under the height adjustment window when I turn on the vacuum cleaner (on/off switch is on the wand) after I have hit the reset button. Because I see this flash/spark at the reset button location, I think that electricity is getting to the reset button on the Power Mate, but it stops there. Is there a fuse at the reset button that needs to be replaced? If so, how do I locate and replace that fuse? I found no information on such a fuse in the troubleshooting guide. If there is not a fuse that I can replace, what could the problem be and what do I do to fix it? Power Mate Model Number is 116.5418582, and its Serial Number is D73602684. Thanks!

my old vacuum is the same model and has the same problem. I was wondering if the reset part needs to be replaced, or if something else is causing the problem.

I am sorry to tell you that we don't have a substitute hose for your vacuum. Since vacuum hoses are made for specific models, I don't think you will find a hose anywhere.

I suggest you go to Sears.com and shop for a new vacuum.
