This is not a part I'd suggest you try to replace yourself. The best option to repair this is to have it done in the shop.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Searss technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

There is no step by step available to help with this project.

The repair would be $59.99 flat rate and is worth it.

Thanks for the information. I have saved the $59,99 by going ahead and doing it myself. It really was not too difficult. Just needed to be careful not to damage the parts I needed to take off the old part and carefully observe how everything came apart so I could put it together correctly. It took about 30 minutes. The part only cost $25.16 + tax.

To repair the connector on the wand, you have to replace the wand. You can replace the connector on the power mate by replacing the wire harness.

The parts you will need are:

20 116 8175252 1 $29.39 LEAD WIRE, "A" UNIT 20 116 8192120 1 $79.61 WAND, EXTENSION (INCLUDES ILLUS 5)

If you are not comfortable repairing the vacuum, you can take it to Sears. Go to http://services.sears.com/shs/category/repair?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch to find the nearest location.

Jimmy, Thanks for the helpful reply. I don't see the connector on the power mate or its part number in the "hose and attachments" box on the parts diagram for this model vacuum. Are they not shown? Should I order it anyway? Also, looks like I must replace the entire wand, even though it is only the 2 electrical receptacles that are worn. Thanks, Michael

Terry, you can't get the connectors on the wand without replacing the complete wand. The part numbers I sent are from the parts diagram of the power mate. To see the parts diagram of the power mate go to [www.partsdirect.com?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch] and enter model number 116.52813203. I should have sent you this information in the first reply. I apologize.

Hello, I received the parts and installed the wand. The carpet feature now works! But I still have a problem. The connector cable is for the power mate. I need the female connectors on the swivel assembly as I noted in my first post. Must I replace the entire swivel assembly, or is there just an electrical component I could replace? Thanks

Go to [www.partsdirect.com?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch] and look at the parts diagram for the vacuum. Search model 116.22813203 and look on the "hose and attachments" page. I think you will need item 2. The rubber part on the end of your old hose is called a hose adapter. The adapter has a slightly raised molded joint on it. Place a small screwdriver at each end of the molded joint and push it underneath the joint 1- 1 1/2 inches. These screwdrivers will release a tab underneath the molded joint and the hose adapter will slide off the hose. You will need to perform this operation to both of the hose adapters. The hose adapters will slide on to the new hose and lock without you having to use the screwdrivers I hope this helps.
