Q:

installing swivel on vacuum 11652813201 Kenmore Power-mate

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when needing to replace the swivel on your power mate.  I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information on how to replace that swivel.

Remove the two screws on the back side of the tube that has broken off and remove the wires harness plug.

(Note the location of the wire routing).

Make sure you install the two swivel seals on either side of the pivot area.

On some model you may have to remove the height adjuster to get the swivel out.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Q:

Need instructions to replace broken wheel on Power-Mate

A:

I understand your concern toward wanting to get proper instructions when replacing a very important part on your vacuum cleaner and a wheel should always be installed perfectly. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link that describes a similar problem to the one that you are having. I also suggest you look in your owners manual manual for more help, below is a second link in where you can enter your model number and your owners manual will pop up. I hope my links are useful.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your questioning why the new wheel will not stay on.

You should not have to open the base to remove and replace the wheel. As you say it should just pop on from the outside.

On the inside of the wheel there should be protrusions on the fingers that go into the hole of the base assembly and those ears should lock into place in the base.

Are there no protrusions on the fingers or is the hole on the base worn too much to hold the fingers on the wheel? This is not likely, but a possibility.

If the base wheel hole is worn to much you may have to replace the base assembly.

Is it possible that the bushing is not letting the wheel go on far enough?

I guess at this point you may have to open the base cover to see why the locking tabs are not snapping into place and go from there.

The part number I have for the wheel is; 4370724 , I hope that is the same number you received.

Please let me know what you discover.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I bought a brand new powermate. After a couple months the wheels came off. The plastic on the wheel wore out on the inserts. I just bought new wheels and a faceplate. I didn't bother with the warrantee because I hate the hassles. Kenmores where always good to me in the past. After a couple months the same spots on the wheel and face plate wore off. Now a third time in less than one year the same parts are wore out. I have come to the conclusion that the design and material are not up to snuff. What has Sears done to fix the problem. I bought another brand but I hope to get this one working again where I can depend on it not breaking down on me. What can you tell me to fix this problem?

A:

Thank you for the update Manuel: I am sorry that the power mate wheels are not lasting. I have not heard of this problem before, however if you will give me the model number and serial number off the bottom of the power mate I will look into this concern to see if there is or has been a fix. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Sam A.
