Q:

Need Owners Manual for Kenmore canister vacumn.

A:

Owner's manuals are so valuable when you cannot find one. I also looked for and did not find a manual. The expert may be more help. I did find a previous expert post that looks like it may help with getting the head apart. It is not your model but may help. I attached the link below. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting a manual for you vacuum cleaner.

The manual for this Power Mate is listed under the canisters model number. Look on the belly of the canister to find the model number.

  • To open up the Power Mate, first remove the light lens on the top of the hood.

  • Then remove the light bulb. This is a bayonet style push in the twist to remove. Please use a cloth just incase you break the glass.

  • You will then see two Phillips head screws that will need to remove to get the top cover off. (These are real long screws).

  • With a flat blade screwdriver locate the plastic tabs on the underside of the hood on the edges near the rubber furniture guard and pop open to release the hood. Note! The tabs at the front of the hood that will have to be located correctly to install the hood back onto the base.

I hope these instructions will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

This was right on and very helpful. I could tell there were more fasteners holding the top on after I pulled the two side tabs out but I neglected to consider removing the light cover. Thanks so much, now to order a new belt and get it running again. Actually a pretty good machine and still working after 20 years. Hit the on switch and the unit actually jumps from the motor torque. I wonder if the new ones from China are as good. Thnaks again for your help.
