Question and Answers

Q:

Suction but does not pick up 11636933502 Kenmore Upright vacuum

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Vacuum, Model: 116.36933502 . From reviewing the details on your model, According to your description, it sounds like your Power Mate motor is running to spin the beater brush but the vacuum motor in the canister is not running. This could be caused by a problem with the switch or the wiring. If you unplug the vacuum cleaner and check the wiring and the switches, you may be able to find the cause of your failure. You could also have a problem with a relay or control board depending on your model. A problem with the motor itself could be the issue.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the vacuum to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Q:

Thermal Overload Tripping on Vacuum 11636933502 Kenmore Upright vacuum

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the vacuum.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number 116.36933502.

I don't think it will be the switch but it very well could be.  You can take the switch out and run it to a meter for its continuity.   If switch is reading full countinuity good if not bad.   I would check the wiring to the switch where the plug is attached.   Sounds like the plug has came loose. This model also has a computer board built in and could be the problem.  It is key number 6 on the picture below.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com
