Thank you for your question.

Not having the roller brush assembly working on your vacuum can make it difficult to use effectively. I am going to assume that the suction motor is still working.

• Yes! It could be the overload that has tripped. But you should be able to press in the button to reset.

  • It is a red button on one side of the roller brush assembly. If this reset does not fix the problem, it could be the thermal limiter on the motor itself, but after it cools it should have reset itself. Remember to release the handle and lean it back so it will activate the micro-switch to start the brush motor. (Just like you are going to vacuum).

• This has a very high torque DC motor on this model that is enclosed inside of the roller brush assembly.

  • If it was allowed to run for a long time with the object stalling the motor it may have failed, but these motors have proved to be very tough. It is also possible that the PCB board that powers the motor could have failed but it also has a very low failure rate.

So I would say if the reset button does not fix the problem, you may have to take the unit in for service.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

I hope this will help.
