I can understand your concern over needing to repair the pedal on your vacuum. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

In order to access the release pedal, the upper housing (nozzle) will need to be taken off. Once the nozzle has been removed, you will have full access to the pedal. Study the pedal assembly and you should see how to remove and replace the pedal if needed. There are no step by step instructions on how to replace the foot pedal. I hope the images below help. It appears the foot pedal fits over one pivot point at one end and a shaft on the other end. Make note of how the spring is routed/connected before removing the old pedal.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician fix this problem, you can carry the vacuum cleaner into your nearest Sears Repair Center or Sears Store. Here is a link for the Sears Service website that has information on the nearest repair facilities in your area: Sears Home Services.
