Question and Answers

Q:

Progressive drive 11631912100 no longer self propels 11631912100 Kenmore Upright vacuum

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your vacuum. Upon researching model number 11631912100; the agitator is what creates the drive movement. The agitator bristles can wear down. Then the bristles no longer make contact with the floor. The brush may need to be replaced. Lay a paper flat on the bottom. Replace the brush if it doesn’t make contact with the paper.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

There are no repair manuals available at either link you provided. The only information I could find was a parts diagram but it doesn't tell me how to open the vacuum. This is probably a faulty switch but I don't want to break the vacuum trying to open it. Can you provide assistance on how to open the switch area?

Ok so I found how to open it. I'm looking at two circuit boards and where the handle presses the power switch. When I press that switch nothing happens. I'm assuming it's some sort of relay switch and should be able to test voltage to see if it needs to be replaced? Do the circuit boards go bad and could prevent the motor from running? What else can I test?

MY vacuum won't turn on either. I found the same thing, but I have only one circuit board and what might be a cylindrical fuse in front of it. When I looked up my symptom is said the suction motor, but that doesn't seem right to me. Were you ever able to find out what was wrong with yours?
