Thanks!!!! That appears to be the solution. The power control board. Now I hope that I can get the vacuum cleaner apart to replace that. [Of course it did not help that the parts diagram that came with the unit called it the P.C.B. Assembly and the on-line catalog calls it the Pcbassy. The part number got me where I wanted to go.]

Thank you for your question on the vacuum cleaner not shutting off when you turn the switch off.

The parts agent was correct in that this model does not have a relay in the canister.

It does have and motor controller circuit board that is the most likely problem.

You will need to open up the canister motor canopy to gain access to the control board and to replace it.

I will give you the part number and ordering location for this control board in the link below.

Motor control circuit board for model 116.27514701 .

You will need to remove the top cover over the tool storage and bag cover by lifting them up and over backwards to pop them out of the canister base.

Then you will need to remove the back tool storage cover.

With these covers removed you will be able gain access to the retainer screws in the top of the motor canopy cover. Once you have these removed, lift straight up on the motor cover to remove, keeping mind there may be some wire harnesses or small items connected to the top.

Once you have this off to the side you will see the control board directly below.

Remove the wires connectors from the board wire harness and connect to new one in place and re-assembly.

I hope this information was helpful.
