Thanks for responding but the swivel I am referring to is in the Power Mate, or the large attachment used to vacuum the floor.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry that the swivel on your power mate has broken.

I will be glad to help you remove and install the new swivel.

First turn the power mate over and locate the two screws on the underside near the wheels. Reference the second image below.

Once removed, you can turn the power mate over and remove the top cover.

Using the image below locate the two screws that hold the swivel retainer and remove.

Remove the two screws on the back side of the tube that has broken off and remove the wires harness plug.

(Note the location of the wire routing).

Make sure you install the two swivel seals on either side of the pivot area.

On some model you may have to remove the height adjuster to get the swivel out.

But since you are changing the swivel and not the wire harness you should not have to do that.

Remove and install any parts off the old swivel and install onto the new one.

I hope this will help.

If you need more help please reply and I will be happy to help you.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank you so much for the instructions regarding how to replace the swivel on my vacuum cleaner as I had no idea how to proceed otherwise. Once I receive the part I will try this repair myself and advise as to how it goes. Again, thank you very, very much!

I am so happy I was able to replace the broken swivel on my vacuum cleaner but could never have done it without the information you provided. It certainly wasnt easy and somewhat confusing once I had it all apart, but I was able to do it. The only casualty was that I broke one of the swivel cap retainer tabs that hold the swivel assembly in. While it doesnt seem like it should pose much a problem I did want to check with the expert for your opinion. Please let me know if that will affect its operation or anything else in the future. This site is an excellent resource and your kind and valuable assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the update and congratulations on your achievement. Its like anything else you learn, once you know how its not that difficult. The broken tab certainly is not a show stopper. It should be fine as long has you were able to use both screws to hold down the retainer. Sam A.

I am trying to use Sam A's directions. I have the cover off, and am having trouble taking parts off of the original part to change them to the new part. (Thanks for the heads up about "make sure you install the two swivel seals on either side of the pivot area." because I totally missed that they were in the package. They were not in a package of their own...didn't even see them, but I have them now. The pictures you posted are really small and blur when blown up. Do you have any tips, such as how to slide or twist or fiddle with the parts that have to be taken off and put on new part. I am hoping you or someone does, because I have taken screws off and am trying to carefully pull/slide/or lift and have not accomplished the removal. Thanks.
