Q:

Vacuum handle 1162531290

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your vacuum. Upon researching model1162531290; I can understand why you would want to fix your hose assembly on you vacuum.

The handle assembly will have screws on one side of the handle and one screw on the end that holds the switch cover onto the handle.

These screws will either be Phillips head or a # 10 torx head screws.

• Once removed you can separate the handle in two halves. Watch for the location of the switch and switch cover which are captured with the halves so you can get it back together correctly.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

Q:

how do I remove a broken rear axle on kenmore vacumm model 1162531290

A:

Thank you for your question. These wheels just snap into place on the base of the canister. There is no particular procedure for removing the old wheels. If you are able to snap them out without damaging the base, then that would be easiest. You may need to break the old wheels to snap them out and install the new ones since you are replacing them. As a last resort, you could remove the canopy cover and squeeze in on the inside snap of the wheel while pulling out to remove the old wheels. If you are not able to get the old wheels off, I recommend that you carry the vacuum cleaner into a Sears Service center to have a technician remove them. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services. I hope this will help you.

I would like to remove the canopy cover. There are two screws on the front of it and two under the cord reel pedal. I can't get to the rear ones under the cord reel release pedal. How do I remove the cord reel pedal so I can get to these two screws? Thanks Russ

Russ, this is not a real easy task and I will try to give you the way that some techs do it on this model. You do need some hand strength to accomplish this task. Put the vacuum cleaner on a flat surface at about waist height. Support the vacuum cleaner with the front of your body, with the nozzle opening at your waist. Reach back with both hands and wrap your finger around the back side of the pedal and with both hands pull forward and up to release the tabs at the back of the pedal. Be careful so you don't break it. Once you have the pedal off you will see a coil spring that fits over a post on the underside of the pedal and a circle in the mold of the motor canopy that the springs set into. After taking the motor canopy off to do the repair inside make sure you put the spring back onto the post and in the circle in the motor canopy and pop the pedal back on. I hope this will help.
