Question and Answers

Q:

I have a kenmore vacuum model number 11622312200. I need to replace the wire harness but not sure how to do it.

A:

Many do their own vacuum repairs. It seems to be one of the home tools self repair seems possible. The vacuum is becoming more complicated though and different models need different directions. I searched and did not find any previous instructions for this model, but while you wait for the expert to review and respond, you can check the schematics for this model at Sears Parts Direct if you wish. It offers an exploded view of the parts that may help.

The rubber part on the end of your old hose is called a hose adapter. The adapter has a slightly raised molded joint on it. Place a small screwdriver at each end of the molded joint and push it underneath the joint 1- 1 1/2 inches. These screwdrivers will release a tab underneath the molded joint and the hose adapter will slide off the hose. You will need to perform this operation to both of the hose adapters. The hose adapters will slide on to the new hose and lock without you having to use the screwdrivers

Jimmy K, I was able to replace the wiring harness without an issue. Now I need to replace the power cord. Do you know how I can get to that? On either side it has the tabs but it seems to be stuck in another area (by the back of the wand near the power cord). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:

the power cord plugs in to the other piece when the handle goes into the wand (to make the wand work). not sure if that helps or not.

Dierdre, you can see a parts diagram at [Parts Direct | www.partsdirect.com?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch] I am sorry I didn't send this address before. I am thinking you are replacing the cord that is attached to the wand. If this is the case, you might need to drill out a pop rivet and will need a pop rivet gun to install a new pop rivet. If I am wrong about the part you are replacing, reply again and we will try to work it out.
