Q:

Is there a newer hose handle for canister vacuum 1162043081 that will work? 1162043081

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your vacuum. Upon researching model 1162043081; the handle assembly that includes the hose has been discontinued and is no longer available, we do not have a compatible part from a newer model that would or a substitution. If the hose is damaged we have the hose without the handle available for ordering but this would be a repair that one of our repair centers would need to fix for you, since it requires special toll and procedures. I have posted a link of the hose to view the link click here.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry the instructions were so difficult to decipher.  Wire colors on vacuums are not set in stone and sometimes the colors in the machine and the colors listed on the wiring diagram do not match.  In this case the wires must be followed from part to part to identify the wire.  I was unable to find the specific diagram for your vac but the image below contains diagrams from similar machines.  One diagram is for a vac that has a slide switch and the other is for a 3 position switch.  Let me know if this is helpful to you.  If the diagrams don't match what you had then reply below and we will try something else.
