Question and Answers

Q:

Possible motor capacitor problem for my 1973 model #113299131 12" table saw. 113299131 Craftsman Craftsman 12-inch motorized floor saw

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

This does sound like a capacitor issue. They can become intermittent when they are going out. The only way to be sure would be to test them. If you don't have experience testing capacitors, I would recommend taking them to an electrical supply shop locally. You could hurt yourself unless you know what you're doing. If you need the replacements, they are part numbers 30445 and 62271.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question on the horsepower rating of the direct drive motor on the table saw.

This motor was similar to the radial arm saw motors that the Emerson electric motor division built as proprietary motors only used on the special products division of the Emerson tool company for the Craftsman tool line.

I believe most of these motor were rated 3 hp peak which actually is 1 1/2 nominal horse power.

This model was 220 volts only at 3450 rpm and 7amps.

Most of the parts are no longer available but if you can tell me what you think you need I will see if it is available.

Thank you Marvin for your parts replacement request, but most of the parts that make up the guard assembly and the fence lock are no longer available for purchase as replacement parts. Neither the complete guard assembly nor the some of its parts that make up the guard are no longer available. I am sorry that I cannot help you with your parts request. Sam A.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

There is no conversion kit available in order to convert the saw to a belt drive system. It would require modifying the product which is something I cannot recommend doing.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.
