Question and Answers

Q:

Band saw tire 113.247210

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about the tires for your Craftsman band saw model 113.247210. I understand your concern about the tires being too small to fit on the wheels. I will be happy to help you with this.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death.

The tires will be a little smaller than the wheels. That way they fit snuggly and do not slip off during use of the saw. I will explain how to install the tires. Start by soaking the new tires in some very hot tap water for a few minutes. This will soften them up and make it easier to work them onto the wheel. Even then it may take a couple of tries.  While the new tires are soaking, it is a good time to remove the old tires. Once you have the old ones removed, be sure to clean the wheel channels of any build up.

Once the tires are more pliable you will want to install them quickly. It will be easier if you stabilize the wheel so it doesn’t turn while you are installing the belt. It may be easier if you have someone help you. As you work the tire over the edge of the rim, your assistant can hold the tire in place to keep it from slipping off again. If you don’t have anyone to help you, you can use 3/8” dowels. Cut them in 2 inch pieces. Use them to help you work the tire onto the wheel and also keep the tire from slipping off as you move around the wheel.

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, the tire has expanded/stretched and it will need to be replaced. The tire for Craftsman bandsaw model 113.247210 is part #41815 which can be ordered from Searspartsdirect.com.

If you have to replace the tire, it requires a lot of stretching to run it onto the wheel. Heat the tire in hot water before attempting to install it.

Having someone help hold the tire on one wheel while rotating the wheels to run the tire on helps. Having help to rotate the wheels as the tire stretches is also helpful.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
