Q:

part #4 113243410 Craftsman Craftsman 12-inch band saw

A:

I assume you mean the retaining ring on the lower wheel of the unit. To get to this, you'll have to remove the wheel and the retaining ring should be on the shaft behind it. If you can see it, you can most likely reach in with some retaining ring pliers and remove it. You may need to get ring pliers with extended tips to reach in there with. Outside of that, I don't know that there is any other way to get to it as I don't think you can take everything else out/off without completely taking the machine apart.

Q:

I have a 12 inch band saw and I would like to find out how to keep the 'tire' on the lower wheel from coming off the wheel. Any ideas?

A:

It can be very upsetting when you have to spend your time getting the saw ready for work instead of working. I found a web forum that has information on this and other issues with a 12" band saw. I also attached the link to Manuals, just click on it and enter the complete model number for access. This may help while you wait for the expert answer.

A:

The tire of the band saw should be a very tight fit the wheel. If you do not have to stretch the tire much to get it to fit the wheel I recommend replacing it. When installing the tire make sure it is position. The tire should sit between the raised edges of the wheel. If the tire is not seated into the wheel, it can walk off the wheel. The part number of the tire is 41815 and can be ordered from the following link. Tire .

Q:

I have a Craftsman Bandsaw model 113-243410. How do you put a 9 3/4in tire belt on 12 3/4in wheel?

A:

Stretching the tires over the wheels is difficult. It is easier with 2 people. You have to hold the wheel and slowly turn it as you inch the tire over the edge.

The tire will stretch over the wheel, but it is not easy.
