Q:

12 inch compound miter saw problem

A:

Your saw is two years older than my daughter. That is actually an excellent length of performance for a saw. I did some research and found what may be causing the blade not to turn. I have provided a link below that will go into further detail. The technician in the link gives good, prudent advice in regards to what should be done next. With 17 years of service... I know Sears has some great deals on miter saws right now. Have a pleasant afternoon.

Thank you for your question on the miter saw blade stopped turning but the motor still is running.

Without the model number of the saw I can only suggest that it may be repaired if the parts are still available.

It may be the reduction gear inside the gear box has failed.

Please reply with the model number of the saw and I will be glad to help you. The model number should look something like: 113.235120.

Please let me know what you find for a model number.

Thank you for your question on the miter saw not driving the saw blade.

Make sure you have the blade nut tight enough on the blade washer.

If the motor continues to spin when you pull the trigger but the blade stops it could be the key you were referring too.

I have given you an image below and the armature gear #1 in the picture drives gear #29 which links with the key #24 and drive arbor shaft #23.

Miter saw motor parts breakdown .

Please let me know what you find and we can continue troubleshooting with that information.
