Q:

new filter not right 113177778 Craftsman Wet/dry vac

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear that the filter is not fitting properly. I know how frustrating that is.

After researching your model and comparing the new parts to newer models. I show the filter cage is set up differently, comparing the newer models that use the same filter; the filter screws into the filter cage. I believe you would need to replace the filter cage on your shop vac. The newer models don't use a filter plate or nut; the filter screws directly into the cage.

If you don’t want to replace the filter cage, you can fabricate a solution to the issue. The solution will be finding a small washer that just fits inside the threaded raised area on top of the filter. Then using a hex nut of the same thread as the top of the filter cage stud, tighten the nut down just enough to hold the filter securely without stripping the plastic threads on the cage top stud. Outside of that, a new filter cage would be needed.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand you wondering why the hose will not go back into the suction side of the vacuum when you had used it on the blower side.

Some of these units have adapter male to male adapter in the hole on the blower side and it is stuck onto the hose. Grab the end of the hose and twist to remove the insert.

If this does not fix the problem please reply.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
