Q:

Broken Clutch Cable 536884822 Craftsman Snowthrower

A:

It sounds like your referring about the cable clutch spool that's mounted into that bracket that's welded to the frame. The cable passes thru the clutch spool and connects to the auger lever. The auger clutch assembly mounts into the lever. If the auger clutch assembly moves the idler pully in and out freely, your lever could be damaged or bent and not letting the cable pull straight and smooth. It's possible the spring pin inside the lever bracket broken and not letting the shaft move in the full range of motion.

Wayne A. Thanks for your reply of 11/18. There was enough of the Clutch Cable left for me to get a vice grips on it to prove that everything is still working. But I do not seem to be able to get the 'S' fitting on the end of the cable out of the Clutch Lever. There is very little clearance between the upper side of the Clutch Lever and the housing. Do you have any tips on how to remove this? Do I dare bend the lever at all to get this one out and the new one in? Also, it appears that I will need to remove the Cable Clutch Spool in order to feed the new Clutch Cable through it. The bracket that houses the spool (Welded to Housing) is bent. This has canted the screw that holds the Spool in place at an angle that makes it very difficult to remove. I have tried to hammer it back into position, but I'm afraid to hit it too hard. Any suggestions?

TESTING ARMATURE 134202-1118-E1 Briggs&stratton Engine

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I assume the spark plug is not getting enough spark when the engine gets hot. The ignition coil/armature will most likely need to be replaced based on your details.

I added a link to Briggs&Stratton with the information your looking for. I hope this helpful.
