Q:

Kenmore Elite Washer makes noise during spin cycle 11045981400 Kenmore Elite Residential washer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer shakes and makes noise during spin cycle.

NOTE: If the washer is installed on a pedestal, begin at Step #1. If not, proceed to Step #3.

For more detailed information, refer to the Installation Instructions.
1. Check for the presence of the four (4) spacers between the washer and the pedestal.
2. Make sure the four (4) screws attaching the washer and pedestal together are tight.
3. Check the levelness of the washer. Level if necessary.
4. It is extremely important to verify that all four (4) feet are in firm contact with the floor. To do this, push and pull on the opposite corners (left rear/right front, right rear/left front) of the washer. If there is any movement front to back, you will need to adjust the feet. Adjust
the appropriate front leveling foot to eliminate the movement. If the right front corner is moving, adjust the right front foot. If the left front corner is moving, adjust the left front foot.
5. Check the leveling feet locknuts. They must be tight against the bottom of the washer or pedestal cabinet, not the footpad.
6. Tighten the leveling feet locknuts, if needed.
7. Run a test load consisting of 11-12 medium size towels in the Rinse/Spin cycle and determine if there is vibration or walking. If the washer is not walking, proceed to Step #11.
8. If the washer is walking, clean the floor and leveling footpads thoroughly and be sure they are dry.
9. Rerun the test load consisting of 11-12 medium size towels in the Rinse/Spin cycle to determine if there was any change in the amount of vibration or walking as compared to step #7 to confirm that an improvement was made.

If leveling the washer does not work, then the suspension springs will need to be replaced. 8182814 is the suspension spring part number.

Thanks for your reply. I purchased this washer new from Sears in 2006 and has been a good washer. I guess one of leveling locknuts was loose because the first thing checked was to see if it was still level. When I checked the locknut on the legs, they were loose. I tighten them and it fixed the problem. Thanks again.
