Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand you concern on how often the manufacture recommend cleaning the dryer vent. We are here to help. The manufactures recommend cleaning the vent at least every 2 years. The dryer itself should be clean every year. However, should the clothes start to take longer to dry constantly, the dryer and the vent should be checked. Other things such as animals, snow, and tree leaves have been known to plug up the vents. Things like that can create a situation where the vent needs to be checked and possible cleaned sooner. I provided you a link to get the vent professional cleaned. I hope this helps.

You can have the vent cleaned at your home by a Sears Technician. You may visit SearsHomeServices.com and follow the instructions, then click on the red next now button.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Thank you for your response. One last question. What do you mean by "the dryer itself" being cleaned every year? Could you please describe what you are referring to in terms of this washer-dryer system?

A:

Heather, All dryers collect lint. The dryer needs to have a panel in the back and front removed, to vacuum the lint inside the dryer. I recommend using a wet/dry vacuum cleaner to remove the lint. That is what needs to be done every year.
